Pool liner replacement in Ontario usually costs $4,000 to $9,000 for an inground pool and $1,200 to $2,800 for an above ground pool, installed. Size and shape set most of the price, then liner thickness, vinyl-over steps, water delivery and any floor or wall repairs. A 16 x 32 ft rectangle with a 20 mil liner typically lands around $5,000 to $6,800.
Pool liner cost by size

Liner replacement planning estimate
A planning range for supply and install before HST, based on published Eastern Ontario prices in 2025 and 2026. It is not a quote. Your measured quote is a fixed price, and water delivery or floor and wall repair is listed separately if needed.
What else affects the price?
| Factor | Typical effect | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Freeform or kidney shape | About 10% more | More measuring and a more complex cut |
| Vinyl-over steps or bench | About $600 to $1,200 more | Extra material and careful fitting |
| Thicker liner (27 to 30 mil) | About 10% to 15% more | More vinyl, longer life |
| Water delivery | Often $500 to $600 per load in the region | Needed if your well can't refill the pool |
| Floor or wall repair | Quoted once the old liner is out | Washouts, rust or old patches under the vinyl |
| New faceplates, lights or fittings | Per part | Worth doing while the pool is empty |

Is a new liner worth it, or should I repair?
Repair makes sense for one or two small holes in a liner with years left in it: a patch costs a fraction of a new liner. Replace when the liner leaks in several places, has pulled out of the track, or is brittle. Spread over a 10-year life, a $5,500 liner costs about $550 a year.

How to keep your liner cost down
- Book the measure in winter or early spring, before install dates fill.
- Pair the job with your fall closing or spring opening, so there is one less visit.
- Choose a standard 20 mil liner if the pool sees light use and has no trees overhead.
- Keep pH between 7.2 and 7.6 and the water level up over winter, so the next liner lasts longer.

Questions about pool liner replacement cost
How much does it cost to replace a pool liner in Ontario?
About $4,000 to $9,000 for most inground pools and $1,200 to $2,800 for above ground pools, installed, before HST. HomeStars put a typical Ontario vinyl liner replacement at $4,500 to $6,500 in August 2026.
Why do liner quotes vary so much?
Quotes differ on thickness, whether steps are vinyl-covered, whether water and floor repairs are included, and how carefully the pool is measured. Compare what each quote includes, not only the total.
Is the water included in the price?
Filling from a municipal hose is usually fine. If you are on a well that can't keep up, water delivery is extra and we list it separately in your quote.
Do liner prices go up in spring?
Demand peaks from April to June, so dates fill first. Measuring in winter gets you an early install date at the same price.
