A Limitless Pools opening costs $329 plus HST for a standard inground or above ground pool. One visit covers cover removal and cleaning, plugs out, pump, filter and heater reconnected and started, a full water test and the first chemical balance. Book by March to get a mid April or May date.
What a pool opening includes
Every opening follows the same checklist, so nothing is skipped when the crew is busy in May.
| Step | What we do | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Cover | Pump off standing water, remove, clean, fold and store the winter or safety cover | A dirty cover stored wet grows mould and shortens its life |
| Lines | Remove winter plugs and gizmos, reinstall skimmer baskets, return fittings and ladders | Plugs left in block flow and strain the pump |
| Equipment | Reconnect pump, filter, heater and salt cell; prime the pump and check for leaks | Catches freeze damage before you run the system for weeks |
| Water | Top up, test pH, alkalinity, chlorine and calcium, add start-up chemicals | Balanced water from day one stops algae getting a start |
| Report | A short visit note with readings and anything that needs attention | You know what was found without being home |

When to open your pool in Ontario
Open your pool between mid April and late May in the Kingston area, before the water warms past about 15°C. Algae grows quickly above that temperature, and a pool that turns green under the cover costs more time and chemicals to clear than a normal opening.
Early openings also mean the filter catches the first maple seeds and pollen instead of letting them settle. If you want to check typical spring temperatures for your town, Environment and Climate Change Canada climate data has historical data for Kingston and Trenton.
Inground and above ground openings
Inground pools usually have a safety cover, buried return and skimmer lines, and sometimes a heater or salt system. Above ground pools are quicker but often need hoses and the skimmer reattached and the liner checked for winter shifting. The price table on our pool service pricing page shows the base price and each add-on.
- Safety cover removal and storage: add-on price
- Heater or heat pump start-up: add-on price
- Salt cell inspection and clean: add-on price
- Green pool clean-up: quoted after the first visit

Questions about pool opening
How much does a pool opening cost in Kingston?
A standard Limitless Pools opening costs $329 plus HST. Safety covers, heaters and salt systems add a set amount listed on the pricing page. Regional companies that publish prices charged $249 to $420 in 2026, so compare what each includes.
How long does a pool opening take?
Most openings take one to two hours on site. The water usually clears within two to five days of running the filter, depending on how clean the pool was at closing and how warm the weather is.
Do I need to be home for my pool opening?
No. We need access to the yard, power to the equipment and a working hose. We text when we arrive and send a visit note with water readings when we finish.
What if my pool is green when the cover comes off?
A green pool needs extra shock, brushing and filter cleaning. We tell you on the day and quote the clean-up before doing it. See what each water colour means in our water colour doctor.
